Women Empowerment with Goodie Vibes

In honour of Women’s History Month, Posh Lash Professional Inc. has decided to select a few individuals to express their thoughts about what women empowerment means to them on our platform. We wanted to be able to share their story and show our support to women who own a business from food, to custom skincare to health supplements. 

We had the pleasure of interviewing Despina Diamantopoulos, a Certified Renaissance Exercise Instructor and the Founder of GoodieVibes.com, a food-grade supplement shop.

1. What made you decide to go into business?

I started my online food-grade supplement shop last year because I wanted to work for myself, to contribute to an underserved market with products I believe in and consume myself, and because I want the freedom to work remotely.

2. Who in your life inspires you? It can be anyone or any company.

One of my friends and clients, Jason Vander Griendt, inspired me to get into the e-commerce space. He has a successful online, 3-D design company called J-Cad Inc. He helped me believe that anyone can start their own online shop as long as they start out with an idea they feel good about and follow through with it.

3. What is your long-term goal for your business? (example: what do you hope to achieve, or where do you hope to see your business in 5 years?)

I hope that in 5 years, GoodieVibes.com will become Canada's #1 source for a wide range of food-grade supplements. In this process, we will be expanding our product selection and eventually extending our offerings to other markets outside Canada.

4. Anything you want to say to those who want to start their own business?

Start by having a vision of what you want to achieve. Find what you're passionate about. Make lists of what your goals are. Importantly, find a way to add value for customers. For example, for my online shop, I take care of importing our inventory and extending to my clients savings related to duties and shipping. Also, daydreaming your vision is a very good tool for generating ideas and turning thoughts into reality, plus it's free! Have fun with it and enjoy each step of the way, for there is value in each stage of growth.

5. How do you balance work and life?

It's important for me to start my day off right as it sets the tone for the rest of the day. My online shop is about wellbeing so I try to reflect that in my own life. I take 15-20 minutes each morning to meditate or practice Qi Gong. I take frequent walk breaks throughout the day, especially when the sun is out and I make a point to leave my phone at home when I do. I try to do at least one fun thing every day. I eat well, and hydrate plenty. When your body and soul is happy, your business is happy :)
