Women Empowerment with Sun's Kiss

In honour of Women’s History Month, Posh Lash Professional Inc. has decided to select a few individuals to express their thoughts about what women empowerment means to them on our platform. We wanted to be able to share their story and show our support to women who own a business from food, to custom skincare to health supplements. 

Introducing Sun's Kiss, a curated collection of sunglasses designed to fit and flatter those with wide faces. The Sun's Kiss collection was created by Meghan Victoria, a professional makeup artist and content creator who used her eight years of professional beauty experience and industry knowledge of what fits and flatters certain face shapes to design the entirety of the Sun’s Kiss collection: frame size, shape, colours and designs.

What made you decide to go into business?

I’ve been entrepreneurial since I was very young. Running neighbourhood lemonade stands, bake sales, newspaper route, walking dogs, babysitting, raking leaves...you name it, I’ve done it. I valued financial freedom at a really young age seeing the hardships one can go through at home and from there financial independence became really important to me at an early age. Now with that said, I’ve always had my own ingenuities and creative ways of getting things done. So wanting to be successful, creative, and pave my own path...I believe I've always been destined for the entrepreneur life. 

Who in your life inspires you? It can be anyone or any company.

I’ve always been one to say we have different friends for different reasons. And I think that applies here too. People are so multifaceted that if we take the time to listen there is so much inspiration and lessons to be learned from every encounter with someone. 

In our Sun’s Kiss collection our sunglasses are designed and modelled after the essence of some of the most influential women in my life. I call them our Sun’s Kiss Muses. Different vibe, different backgrounds, different stories to share and different gifts and values they’ve shared with me in my life.

What does women empowerment mean to you?

Women empowerment means security in ourselves to realize that our fellow women are not our competition. They are our teammates, our cheerleaders and our coaches all at the same time. We can cheer, learn, lead, follow and build each other up together and remove the fear of being left behind. We all bring to the table our own unique perspective, background, story to share, and a multitude of skills & talents. There’s more than enough room for all of us. 

How can I differentiate myself?

My brand has always been a strong reflection of me. I’ve never sat and tried to differentiate myself from others. I know who I am, and I’m connected authentically to my passions and my purpose so I let that be my guiding light and stay focused on my present and where I am going in my future.

I think having a strong conviction in what you are doing will show. More than ever customers are buying directly from brand owners, not just the brand. Regardless of your product, creating connection and community and more than just a transactional relationship is crucial for a brands survival. Sharing your story, your passions and who you are as a brand owner will build trust and loyalty with your audience and make for long term customers and community members. 

Anything you want to say to those who want to start their own business.

Let it flow. We live and operate in such a masculine energy dominated space. We are constantly told to work harder, work longer and sacrifice for our goals. We are pushed this agenda of struggle, stress and sacrifice in order to succeed. But the beauty of feminine energy isn’t about fighting to achieve, it’s about letting go and being open to receive and work with ourselves, not against. I don’t feel I need to be working 24/7 to succeed in what I am doing. I value creating balance in my life, taking care of myself so that when I feel the pull about a new idea or project it is coming from a place of abundance and intuition, rather than a scarcity mindset. My best ideas have never come from a brainstorming meeting but rather just being present in my everyday experiences when all a sudden an idea just drops into my head. Nothing has to be done the way someone tells you, be open and listen to yourself because you already have the answers.
