In honour of Women’s History Month, Posh Lash Professional Inc. has decided to select a few individuals to express their thoughts about what women empowerment means to them on our platform. We wanted to be able to share their story and show our support to women who own a business from food, to custom skincare to health supplements.
Introducing Sarah, Creator and CEO of Urban Country Organics. Over the past 7 years, Sarah has been making, adjusting, testing and exploring with all-natural, vegan and high quality products to find the perfect blends and combinations to address sensitive skin needs. Attending workshops, reading books about natural skin care and learning all about the incredible plant-healing powerhouse ingredients so she could use to treat all kinds of skin conditions. Overtime, she began to make larger batches of her products and give them as gifts to family and friends. In doing so, the reaction and feedback from everyone was always extremely positive and everyone encouraging, making her products available for purchase so she may share the gentle and effective creations with others. Using plant-based and sustainable products is extremely important to Sarah, as she has been a vegetarian for over 30 years and has a desire to reduce my carbon footprint on this earth as humanely and kindly as possible, while teaching her children to do the same.

Check out her full interview below!
1. What made you decide to go into business?
The stars aligned. For years I had been planning to start my own business but my goal launch date was still years away. I wanted to wait until all of my children would be at school. Since the start of the pandemic my Husband has been home which has given me time to turn my dreams into a reality and create Urban Country Organics.
2. What does women empowerment mean to you?
For me, women empowerment means equality. It means that a woman is not going to be held back from achieving whatever her dreams and goals may be. It means supporting one another and having a voice.
3. How can I differentiate myself?
At Urban Country Organics we have our own all-natural vegan skin care line focusing on quality and sustainability. We also source products from other like-minded Canadian and Global companies. All of our products are made with pure plant-based ingredients or earth minerals. Part of what makes us unique is that we grow our own plants which we use to distill and create hydrosol (floral water) with and add these into some of our products!
4. How did you balance being a mother and professional? What have you sacrificed both personally and professionally at each stage of your career? If you are not a mother, what did you have to sacrifice in your personal life to become where you are now?
Prior to becoming a Mother, I worked as a corporate Pilot and I absolutely loved my job. When I became pregnant with my eldest son I hung up my flying hat and decided to stay home. Now, as a Mother of 3 boys, I can say with confidence that it is not always easy to balance being a good Mom and an entrepreneur. Having family support is a definite key in my world. My husband and my Mom are incredible and are always looking after the boys when I need dedicated time to work.
Over the past 7 years, I have been making, adjusting, testing and exploring with all-natural, vegan and high quality products to find the perfect blends and combinations to address my sensitive skin. I have attended workshops, read books about natural skin care and learned all about the incredible plant-healing powerhouse ingredients that I could use to treat all kinds of skin conditions. Overtime, I began to make larger batches of my products and give them as gifts to family and friends. In doing so, the reaction and feedback from everyone was always extremely positive and everyone encouraged me to make my products available for purchase so that I may share my gentle and effective creations with others. This inspiration was a true push for us in the direction of starting our own skin care line.
The balance between work and life for me sometimes resembles the teeter totter when I hop on with my 3 year old. Our home is often unbalanced and we seem to make that work. My children are my main priority and once I know their needs are being met, I make time to focus on Urban Country Organics.
6. What is your long-term goal for your business? (example: what do you hope to achieve, or where do you hope to see your business in 5 years?)
Our long-term goal is to open a store in Stouffville, Ontario. We have so many ideas and can’t wait to turn them into reality!
7. What is your most significant barrier in your career?
This may sound a bit silly but to date, labeling our products has been a huge barrier for us! We have come a long way and every hurtle we get over is a huge milestone and a step in the right direction!
8. Anything else you want to add or want people to know about you and your business?
I launched Urban Country Organics in November, 2020. Our company is young and constantly evolving. We fully value the input, requests and suggestions of our customers and strive to make the best products that you will love.
Amazing right! Make sure to check out Sarah on her website, and check her Instagram for more!
